Specialist for Open Science - Akademien Schweiz

In January 2022, Swissuniversities, the Swiss Academies for Arts and Sciences, the ETH Board and the Swiss National Science Foundation published the Action Plan for Open Research Data (ORD). They want to introduce a bundle of measures to change the way we deal with research data is Switzerland. The plan is divided into four fields of action:

  • Support researchers and research communities in adopting ORD practices
  • Provide sustainable and useful basic infrastructures and services for all researchers
  • Equip researchers for ORD skills development and exchange of best practices
  • Create conditions that are conducive to the implementation of ORD practices in institutions and research communities

The Action Plan operationalizes the ORD Strategy adopted in 2021. Each participating institution is responsible for the implementation of several task. A nine-strong Strategy Council with members from all participating institutions oversees the strategic management.

The role of the Swiss Academies of Arts and Sciences

The Swiss Academies of Arts and Sciences are tasked with the formation of a permanent Sounding Board of researchers.
